Register for a local walk around the Ridges ca mpus guided by Len Loomis\, graduate student in Sculpture in the School of Art + Design. With blocks of wet clay in hand\, participants will make impr essions of built or natural details that visually “define” this place. The raw clay acts as a material to enhance our sense of touch and physical conn ection to our surroundings. One side of each ceramic object captures the te xtures lifted from the surface that the participant presses their clay into \, while the other side is marked by the hand that once held it. The result ing “souvenirs” will become records of particular moments in time and place .
