Nicole Seisler’s p ublic art project invites participants to join together on local walks with blocks of wet porcelain in-hand\, which they use to make impressions of ar chitectural details that visually and culturally define a place. The raw cl ay acts as a conduit that heightens our individual sensation of touch and p hysical connection to our surroundings. The resulting ‘souvenirs’ become re cords of particular moments in time and place. One side of each ceramic obj ect captures texture and pattern lifted from surfaces nearby\, while the ot her side retains lines and marks from the hand that once held it. \n \n\nPa rticipants are invited to make an Athens souvenir by joining this community walk. As the Athens collection of Hand Pressed Souvenirs grows throughout the duration of the exhibition\, so too does the evidence of a community’s relationship to place. \n\nThis walk will take place at the Ridges Complex .
