Kennedy Museum of Art’s September Family Open Studio will explore the process of sculpting with modeling clay using inspiration from objects displayed in the new installation from collections, At/On the Table . Looking into the design choices made by the artists featured in the current works in this exhibition, participants will think about household items as artistic objects that could occupy a place "on the table" or represent the conversational space where relationships and friendships are fostered and ideas are talked about, "at the table." Participants will create their own sculpture (possibly a teapot, flatware, tiny table, etc.) using modeling clay, hopefully drawing on their own experiences that have occurred "at/on the table." Attendees will leave with their own baked clay creations!
Instructors: Hannah Moulen- Graduate Student, Printmaking, Emily Van Meter- HTC, Studio Art & Art History, & Maia Leclair- Journalism
