DESCRIPTION:The second of three programs in a series about reproductive hea
lth is a discussion on the past\, present\, and future of reproductive righ
ts from a political perspective on Thursday\, Nov. 3\, from noon-1 p.m. in
the Women’s Center (403 Baker).\n\n \n\nThe panel will be led by Dr. Julie
White\, Professor of Political Science. She will discuss how state control
of access to reproductive healthcare is driven by broader political and dem
ographic imperatives. The conversation will invite consideration of the way
s the Dobbs decision can be understood in relation to a pronatalist politic
s\, and the anxieties nurtured by “replacement” theories. There will also b
e two undergraduate students discussing how they see Dobbs and other aspect
s of women’s reproductive health from a political lens.\n\n \n\nDasia Dewbe
rry and Larissa Strong will discuss how their different student organizatio
ns are getting involved and how others can\, too.
