The Linguistics Department presents Dr. Saloua Mrabet-Abid discussing: “An Ecolinguistics Method for TESOL: Innovations in Theories & Praxes”
Abstract: This research project offers a comprehensive exploration and evaluation of a cutting-edge ecolinguistics method developed by the author for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). The core objectives are to scrutinize the method's underlying theories, pedagogical frameworks, and practical applications. The project also aims to evaluate the method's efficacy and adaptability across diverse multicultural contexts and educational landscapes. That is, central to this project is an evaluation of the merits associated with adopting an ecolinguistics method for TESOL across diverse cultural ecosystems. By juxtaposing this innovative method against earlier methods , this project underscores the transformative capacity of the ecolinguistics method, highlighting its ability to implement innovative, inclusive and sustainable ecolinguistics theories and praxes in diverse sociocultural ecosystems. The researcher will suggest long-term and short-term recommendations that can be used as future action plans and which can be used to shape the classrooms of the future. It will, also, assist in drawing attention to the importance of TESOL teachers and students’ voices in developing and implementing new operational reforms needed to meet the challenges of 21st-century education
