Through semi-structured interviews with 10 secondary Chinese DLBE teachers in Utah\, this study seeks to understand their narratives. The re sults show that the teachers' varied experiences shape their views on langu age and race\, influencing their literacy pedagogies. Despite their efforts to enhance bilingual and biliteracy development\, these teachers largely a voided discussions on critical issues of race\, power\, and equity\, thereb y neglecting the foundational goal of DLBE to foster critical consciousness . This study reveals the need to support Chinese DLBE teachers in criticall y analyzing their raciolinguistic ideologies and implementing literacy peda gogies that confront oppressive practices and promote equity in Mandarin Ch inese DLBE settings. Implications for educators\, school leaders\, policyma kers\, and families are also discussed.\n\n \n\nDr. Xu is an Assistant Prof essor of Teacher Education at Bowling Green State University.
