DESCRIPTION:Conner Furr is an MFA candidate in the School of Art + Design's
Printmaking program. \n\n \n\nAn investigation into the historic and decen
tralized systems of gendered oppression which permeate American identity\,
this exhibition critiques institutions which perpetuate masculine dominatio
n and the continued subjugation of marginalized groups. Through material ch
oice\, process-based practices\, and illustrative iconography\, I critique
physical\, economic\, and ideological paradigms tied to historically oppres
sive regimes. By exploring the ramifications of these institutions in my ow
n life and focusing on the transformative power of vulnerability and empath
y\, this exhibition asks the audience to reflect on how patriarchal influen
ces have affected them\, how they might be subverted\, and how we might wan
t them to change.
