In the workshop, Sara Abou Rashed, through storytelling, reflection, and discussion, will explore differences but more importantly our shared humanity – milestones. Students, faculty, and staff will be invited to engage in discovering how their own journey has common milestones.

In this time of divisiveness and division, it is exceedingly important to find a common ground from which to explore how to support the academic or professional journey of faculty, staff and students at Ohio University. A journey that includes inclusive spaces and compassionate conversations fostered by a sense of belonging in the Patton College of Education community. The proposed speaking engagement with Sara Abou Rashed supports our desire to provide educational experiences to promote increased awareness, acceptance, knowledge, and understanding of all facets of human diversity. 

The students, faculty, and staff of Patton College will benefit by learning from and engaging with Sara Abou Rashed during the Miles to Milestones workshop. Our areas of education focus on serving and supporting others. Within the Patton College of Education, we prepare teachers, educational leaders, counselors, coaches, recreational and customer service managers to serve society responsibly as change agents in meeting diverse human and social needs.
