Dr. Brian Stephens, Department of African American Studies, will discuss how black cultural workers have played a significant role in developing camp aesthetics.
The presentation will mine ways in which black cultural workers (musicians and visual artists primarily) utilize the queer strategy of camp to unsettle both black respectability and anti-black expectations of black identity.
