iddle Childhood education programs will host a virtual open house at 4 p.m.
on Thursday\, Feb. 25\, 2021\, for prospective students to learn about pro
grams and the different educational pathways offered on our regional campus
. Virtual visitors will also get a tour of the education room that is used
for both programs\, a tour of the Early Childhood and Elementary Education
lab and a have a chance to meet professors and current students.\n\nThe vir
tual event will be for high school juniors\, seniors\, transfer students\,
or those ready for a career in education. Everyone who attends is eligible
to receive an application fee waiver to apply to Ohio University Eastern. P
rospective students who attend the entire virtual event will also be entere
d for a chance to win one of four $1\,000 OHIO Eastern Scholarships (applic
able for fall semester 2021 only) and one of four $50 Amazon gift cards fro
m a drawing at the end of the event.\n\n“The Eastern campus Early Childhood
/Elementary Education and Middle Childhood Education programs offer student
s the opportunity to earn their bachelor’s degrees and state licensure and
immediately emerge into the career field where their services are in high d
emand\,” said Dr. Jacqueline Yahn\, Eastern Campus Program Coordinator\, Mi
ddle Childhood Education. “The Middle Childhood and Early Childhood/Element
ary Education programs both feature a partnership model that connects our s
tudents with robust practical experience and a network of potential employe
rs throughout their time at the Eastern campus. Likewise\, our program area
faculty provide a depth of knowledge in the classroom that equips our cand
idates with the confidence to transition to their classrooms.”\n\nOHIO East
ern offers two bachelor’s degrees in education. The Middle Childhood Educat
ion program prepares students to teach in grades 4 through 9. Upon successf
ul completion of the program and the OAE exams\, students are eligible for
a four-year resident educator license in the state of Ohio. Students are al
so eligible to apply for licensure in other states. Students will earn a Ba
chelor of Science in Education.\n\nThe Eastern Campus also offers a complet
e Early Childhood and Elementary Education degree program leading to an Ohi
o teaching license for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 and a Bachelor of S
cience in Education. In addition to being licensed to teach in public and p
rivate preschools\, Head Start programs\, nursery schools\, and centers\, s
tudents are also licensed to teach in private and public-school kindergarte
ns and primary grades.
