Information session for REC 3240: Outdoor Leadership. Outdoor Leadership is a 28 day, domestic study abroad program. The course carries 9 credit hours and takes place during 1st summer session May 10-June 6th. Course outcomes focus on the transferable skills of leadership, judgement and decision making, group dynamics and development, teaching, and risk management while engaged in the outdoor and adventure activities of backpacking (Pisgah National Forest), coastal kayaking (Outer Banks), and bike packing (Allegheny Highlands). Prior experience in activity areas is not required but this course can be physically demanding and takes place in remote locations. This course is facilitated by faculty in the Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies program.
