DESCRIPTION:The Physics & Astronomy Colloquium Series presents Dr. Chairul
Bahri of Kennesaw State University\, discussing "Nuclear Theory & Industry"
on March 8.\n\n \n\nAbstract: The nature of the atomic nuclei is organized
by a collection of nucleons\, I.e.\, protons and neutrons\, dynamically mo
ving around under nucleonic interactions. These interactions arise as resid
ual from the Standard Model of fundamental interactions between quarks and
gluons\, analogous to the interactions between atoms in a molecule\; howeve
r\, the interactions are more complex and the structure is more fluid attri
buted to their mass properties. Nevertheless\, a beautiful symmetry emerges
in the form of rotational and vibrational phenomena as its signature. The
symmetry is governed by symplectic algebra and its structure provides promi
sing theory to explain various physical properties of nuclei.
