In the era of quantum technology\, recent experiments have shown that the electromagnetic vacuum can now be engineered to alter the way atoms interac t with each other to form molecules at room temperature\, a possibility tha t is expected to have far-reaching implications in chemistry and materials science.\n\n \n\nThrough the discussion of selected examples\, I will descr ibe how decades of studies of quantized electromagnetic fields can help us in controlling elementary chemical processes that can ultimately result in vacuum-assisted molecular devices for useful quantum advantage in the near future.
