es\, Columbus Phone Conference ID: 775 913 315# \n\nAbstract: The electro
magnetic vacuum has a fundamental importance in our understanding of the in
teractions between atoms\, the formation of molecules\, and all the light-m
atter interaction processes that form the basis of our everyday technology.
In the era of quantum technology\, recent experiments have shown that the
electromagnetic vacuum can now be engineered to alter the way atoms interac
t with each other to form molecules at room temperature\, a possibility tha
t is expected to have far-reaching implications in chemistry and materials
science.\n\n \n\nThrough the discussion of selected examples\, I will descr
ibe how decades of studies of quantized electromagnetic fields can help us
in controlling elementary chemical processes that can ultimately result in
vacuum-assisted molecular devices for useful quantum advantage in the near
future.
