ncipal arborist at Urban Canopy Works\, LLC.\n\n \n\nAbstract: Over the pas
t few decades\, urban forestry has increasingly taken more of a visible sta
ge in cities across the country. Because of the real impact of trees on the
health of communities\, there is a real need for planners\, designers\, an
d policy makers to think about and emphasize the value of a healthy urban f
orest\, especially in the face of climate changes.\n\n \n\nUrban planner an
d ISA certified arborist Rachel Comte\, Principal of Urban Canopy Works\, w
ill provide an overview of what UCW is seeing in strategic long term planni
ng for communities related to tree canopy. Some of the challenges and innov
ations happening in urban forestry Rachel will cover will include a summary
of challenges in urban forestry planning as a whole\, including discussion
on the concepts of equity\, communications\, engagement and partnerships i
n urban forestry.\n\n \n\nUrban Canopy Works\, LLC is a women-owned firm de
