- Understand the mission and structure of field education at the Ohio University Social Work Department.
- Become informed of the roles of the field instructor, the field liaison, the field office, and the student and the responsibilities of each for a successful field program.
- Gain knowledge on the specific implementation of policies and procedures that govern field education.
- Explore the importance of the student-field instructor relationship to social work education and identify strategies to enhance the relationship consistent with supervision best practices.
- Examine the linkages between the competency-based field curriculum and supervised field activities as implemented through the learning plan and evaluation documents.
- Acquire the skills of preparing a learning plan and of implementing an evaluation process consistent with best practices of supervision.
- Discuss integration of the field practicum with course work in social work education.
- Increase the self-confidence of the participants in the field program toward achieving excellence in social work practice.
