"Kathi & I met our freshman year of college. People said she looked like Betty Boop, which was the inspiration for the nickname we use to this day, Boop.

Our friendship included sharing a house; new loves and heartbreaks; first tattoos; sharing book recommendations; funky tastes in TV; Disney movies with brown- or green-eyed heroines; curly hair; kid book study breaks; and an affinity for tea and animals.

When Kathi died, her parents asked her friends to do something nice for animals. Then on the 1st anniversary of her passing, her mom reminded me of how much Kathi loved having tea with her friends.
