DESCRIPTION:The LGBT Center of Ohio University is proud to partner with Vis
ual AIDS for Day With(out) Art 2022 by presenting Being & Belonging\, a pro
gram of seven short videos highlighting under-told stories of HIV and AIDS
from the perspective of artists living with HIV across the world. The progr
am features newly commissioned work by Camila Arce (Argentina)\, Davina “De
e” Conner and Karin Hayes (USA)\, Jaewon Kim (South Korea)\, Clifford Princ
e King (USA)\, Santiago Lemus and Camilo Acosta Huntertexas (Colombia)\, Mi
kiki (Canada)\, and Jhoel Zempoalteca and La Jerry (México). \n\n \n\nFrom
navigating sex and intimacy to confronting stigma and isolation\, Being & B
elonging centers the emotional realities of living with HIV today. How does
living with HIV shift the ways that a person experiences\, asks for\, or p
rovides love\, support\, and belonging? The seven videos are a call for bel
onging from those that have been stigmatized within their communities or le
ft out of mainstream HIV/AIDS narratives. \n\n \n\nThe films will be shown
on a loop with captions on from 12PM-4:30PM on Tuesday\, November 29 and fr
om 2PM-6PM on Wednesday\, November 30 in the Allyship Room of the LGBT Cent
er\, located in Baker University Center 348. \n\n \n\nVisual AIDS is a New
York-based non-profit that utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogu
e\, supporting HIV+ artists\, and preserving a legacy\, because AIDS is not
over.
