Accreditation

Ohio University offers curricula in more than 250 undergraduate majors leading to bachelor’s or associate’s degrees through nine colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business, Communication, Education and Human Services, Engineering and Technology, Fine Arts, Health Sciences and Professions, Honors Tutorial, and University. Programs are also offered through the Division of Lifelong & Distance Learning and the College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Graduate College coordinates graduate study at Ohio University.

Ohio University is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. In addition, numerous departments, schools, and colleges within the University hold individual accreditations as listed below. Additional information is available from the office of each college’s dean.

Offers a four–year medical education program leading to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (see separate catalog) and postdoctoral programs in family practice, general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology.

Graduate College

Programs leading to the Master of Arts, Master of Business Administration, Master of Communication Technology and Policy, Master of Education, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Health Administration, Master of Music, Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Health, Master of Science, Master of Social Science, Master of Social Work, Master of Sports Administration, Doctor of Audiology, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees. Certificate programs are also offered in the areas of Conservation Biology*, Contemporary History*, Geographic Information Science, Gerontology, Health Care Services Administration, Health Policy, Music Performance, and Women’s Studies*. *participants in these certificate programs must be concurrently admitted to a graduate degree program as a degree–seeking student.

Honors Tutorial College

A renowned degree–granting college with 28 programs of study. Honors Tutorial College students undergo a rigorous and exhilarating academic experience that combines a set of tutorials, upper–division classes, and selected graduate courses. In order to allow students to pursue this challenging form of undergraduate education, Honors Tutorial College students are exempt from General Education Requirements, except English composition. A high percentage of the students in this college enter graduate or professional school. You may request consideration for admission to the Honors Tutorial College and must indicate a program of study at the time of application.

Lifelong & Distance Learning

Lifelong & Distance Learning (LLDL) offers innovative alternative educational opportunities and experiences for traditional and nontraditional students, including those who may not be able to come to an Ohio University campus.

Opportunities abound through LLDL, to earn college credit, a degree, continuing education units (CEUs), or study something of interest. LLDL works to deliver educational opportunities that integrate life, work, and learning to students of all ages in various locations.
