EDCS 1011 - Introduction to Diversity Studies
Introduces concepts important to understanding diversity, especially in the United States. Concepts such as privilege, domination, deculturalization, socialization, intersectionality, marginalization and others explored. Provides an introductory exploration in the domains of race/ethnicity, gender, class, sexual orientation and disability.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be introduced to the domains of race/ethnicity, gender, class, sexual orientation and disability.
- Students will examine important contemporary issues related to diversity.
- Students will explore the conceptual underpinnings needed to understand diversity in the United States.
- Students will have an opportunity to examine their own cultural beliefs and assumptions regarding diversity.
- Students will understand how important historical and legal events/processes impact diverse populations today.
