PETE 2100 - Physical Activity and Sport Leadership


This course is designed to introduce foundational knowledge in physical activity and sport leadership through exploration of societal trends. Students will have the opportunity to examine, understand, and reflect upon the important role physical activity and sport plays in society and in their own lives.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to describe the impact physical activity, fitness, and sport has on human growth and development in all three learning domains (psychomotor, affective, and cognitive).
  • Students will be able to describe the nature of physical education, physical activity, fitness, and sports in society.
  • Students will be able to identify society’s path of development in terms of physical education, physical activity, fitness, and sport as it relates to the three learning domains (psychomotor, affective, and cognitive).
  • Students will be able to identify the need to advocate for high quality physical education, physical activity, fitness, and sport experiences for all people.
  • Students will be able to model behaviors of a physically literate leader in society.
  • Students will be able to recognize the impact the government has on physical education, physical activity, fitness, and sport in society.
  • Students will be able to recognize trends across cultures in terms of physical activity, sport, and leadership.
