Theoretical and experimental investigations of learning in human beings: concept learning, problem solving, memory, motor skills, and language.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to analyze the utility of computers in describing and elucidating human thought processes.
  • Students will be able to describe and evaluate current research methods used in contemporary cognitive psychology research.
  • Students will be able to describe the history of cognitive psychology, including influences from philosophy and early movements in psychology such as Mentalism, Structuralism, Behaviorism, and Gestalt psychology.
  • Students will be able to discuss ways in which cognitive psychology research findings have been applied to real-world problems.
  • Students will be able to discuss well-established cognitive theories of attention, memory, comprehension, problem-solving, imagery, categorization, reasoning, judgment, and decision making.
