DANC 2231 - Intermediate Dance Composition II


Continuation of 2230. Choreographic studies to enhance the student’s understanding and appreciation of the creative process by developing the concepts of rhythm, space, and dynamics into longer, more detailed studies.

Requisites: DANC 2230
Credit Hours: 2
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 4.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 studio, 2.0 laboratory
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to give constructive feedback to their peers based on choreographic observation.
  • Students will create choreographic studies that enhance their understanding and appreciation of the creative process.
  • Students will refine their ability to speak and write descriptively about dance movement, dance structure, and dance creation.
  • Students will understand and be able to utilize the concepts of motif and development, work with sound/music, non-linear choreographic forms.
