DANC 3010 - Dance Technique III Modern


A continuation of materials learned in Dance 2010. An intermediate/advanced level course in modern dance technique this course develops skills in more complex movement phrasing requiring a good background in stationary and traveling dance combinations, physical strength, flexibility and coordination. Live dance performances and class movement projects form the basis of class discussion of dance as an art form. For serious, non-major modern dancers.

Requisites: DANC 2010
Credit Hours: 1.5
Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 3.0 hours.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 studio
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Ability to construct simple movement phrases through choreographic methods.
  • Ability to improvise creative movement from given prompts.
  • Ability to reproduce movement with clarity in space, rhythm, and dynamic qualities.
  • Students will demonstrate the following: Clear understanding of correct body alignment; development of physical strength, flexibility, and co-ordination.
