INST 3909 - Special Topics in Southeast Asian Languages and Literature


Designed to develop communicative skills oral and written to enable the learners to engage in meaningful activities with other speakers. There is no language proficiency requirement.

Requisites: Permission required
Credit Hours: 4
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 lecture
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,CR,PR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:  
  • Be able to systematically integrate culture and language in class activities.
  • Be able to use additional communicative grammatical constructions with a basic knowledge of the Southeast Asian literature.
  • Demonstrate evidence of acquisition of increased skills in the use of Southeast Asian languages in daily interactions such as greetings, interpersonal conversation and understanding of some aspects of the Southeast Asian culture.
  • Enable students to achieve both linguistic and cultural proficiency for developing communicative competence.
