INST 4905 - Special Topics in Advanced African Languages and Literature


Serves as a 3rd-year African language study. Complete intermediate level of appropriate language as approved by instructor.

Learning Outcomes:  
  • Be able to share, express and convey their opinions, through discussion or written exchanges in African language, on what they have recently read or seen in various authentic sources such as articles, short stores, newspapers, books, comics, movies.
  • Be able to understand and analyze the main ideas and significant details of materials in African languages such as magazine articles, newspapers, short stories, poetry, short novels, films, and plays illustrative of African cultural issues
  • Enable conversational fluency, comprehensive knowledge of grammar, and increased facility in reading and writing skills.
  • Understand African literature and be able to undertake surveys on cultural topics and advanced grammar.
