ETM 1030 - Enterprise Computer Methods


Study of common methods used to solve enterprise computing problems. Emphasis is on developing solutions using common software, installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware. Topics include project management (Project), spreadsheets and business software.

Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to perform business calculations using mathematical, and statistical features of spreadsheet software.
  • Students will be able to generate plots and charts using spreadsheet software.
  • Students will be able to perform what-if analysis, goal seek, and generate pivot tables using spreadsheets.
  • Students will be able to import, export, and protect data using spreadsheets.
  • Students will be able to automate routine spreadsheet tasks using macros.
  • Students will be able to list and explain the fundamental concepts of a relational database system.
  • Students will be able to design and create database tables.
  • Students will be able to design and create one-one and one-many relationships between tables using databases.
  • Students will be able to design and create custom queries, forms and reports using databases.
  • Students will be able to import and export data between software.
  • Students will be able to sort, filter, and analyze database data.
  • Students will be able to create mailing labels and generate form letters using software.
  • Students will be able to create a presentation using software including smart graphics, and hyperlinks.
  • Students will be able to create layouts, diagrams and charts using software.
