ML 4610 - Technology in Language Teaching


Use of computers and associated media as correlated with modern language classroom; instruction in selection, preparation, and use of materials and tests, and in successful operation of computers, lab, and classroom equipment.

Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
  • - apply evaluative criteria to instructional materials.
  • - be able to use software to create and edit audio files, video clips, and websites that embed these media files.
  • - know how to operate equipment commonly used in language instruction and integrate their use in the language classroom.
  • - possess basic proficiency in the use of common software in language instruction such as PowerPoint.
  • - understand how Web resources such as blogs and wikis can enhance language instruction.
  • The successful student will: - understand the historical development of instructional technology for language instruction and the teaching philosophy/methodology behind it.
