PAW 3800 - Life Guard Training Instructor


Focuses on the responsibilities of the lifeguard, lifeguard conduct, preventative lifeguarding, emergency plans for all types of facilities, and health and sanitation.

Requisites: PAW 2180
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.0 lecture, 4.0 laboratory
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • The students will be able to plan and implement life gaurding units of instruction.
  • The students will be able to apply learning theories into the teaching and learning process.
  • The students will be able to assess skill levels and abilities for lifeguard certification.
  • The students will be able to implement review courses for re-certifying lifeguards.
  • The students will be able to demonstrate proper equipment decontamination and ordering supplies.
  • The students will be able to execute administrative duties for certifying lifeguards.
  • The students will be able to understand the history of the American Red Cross and how it has evolved over time.
