PETE 1260 - Skill and Fitness for Coaches and Physical Educators


This course introduces students to a variety of health and skill related physical fitness components as they apply to coaches and physical educators. Students will regularly participate in physical activity and achieve fitness levels aligned with the national standard criteria.

Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.0 lecture, 4.0 laboratory

Learning Outcomes:
  • The students will be able to identify health and skill related physical fitness components aligned with the national standards.
  • The students will be able to develop and maintain acceptable physical fitness levels as measured by the FITNESSGRAM test batteries.
  • The students will be able to demonstrate competent skill related physical fitness components in a variety of physical activities.
  • The students will be able to apply knowledge of concepts and principles related to physical education and coaching.
  • The students will be able to participate regularly in a variety of physical activities using 3DPA log.
