SASM 4250 - Financial Issues in Sport


This course examines and applies the concepts of financial resource management to the operation of programs in the sport industry. Concepts examined include forms of ownership, taxation, financial analysis, feasibility studies, revenue generation, economic impact studies, and current issues in sports finance.

Requisites: SASM 1001 or SASM 1010
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of methods used in budget development and budget management.
  • Students will be able to apply budget development and budget management both orally and in writing, supported, when appropriate, with the use of technology.
  • Students will be able to discuss current issues of financial management in the sport industry.
  • Students will be able to use financial planning tools in a sport management context.
