DSI 2110 - Intermediate American Sign Language I
Designed for intermediate American Sign Language students. Classifiers and their usage examined in depth as well as the different numerical systems in ASL. Continue to enhance comprehension and expression skills. Students must either complete DSI 1110 and DSI 1120 or receive a Survival Plus rating on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (or equivalent testing) before beginning the intermediate American Sign Language series.
Requisites: C or better in DSI 1120 and WARNING: No credit for both this course and the following (always deduct credit for the first course taken): CSD 2110
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
- Attend and support events with members of the Deaf community.
- Discuss money in a detailed manner relating to banking, financing, etc. both expressively and receptively.
- Expressive and receptive understanding of information relating to major life decisions such as housing, vehicles, etc.
- Expressively and receptively model information about telling about accidents and other stories using role-shifting and classifiers.
- Expressively and receptively sign information relating to sharing interesting facts using number systems.
- Further examine ASL literature.
- Master the use of classifiers, role-shifting, manual and non-manual markers.
- Students will plan and implement a d/Deaf friendly social event.
