DSI 2140 - Educational Interpreting
Looks at educational interpreting, its practices and idiosyncrasies from both a current and historical perspective. Examines such things as the IEP/MFE process, educational laws, technology (i.e., hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other assistive technology), and deaf students with special needs. Also focuses on the EIPA examination.
Requisites: DSI 1810
Credit Hours: 2
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will apply knowledge and identify resources to access a wide range of academic and world knowledge necessary to interpret in a variety of school settings.

- Students will collaborate and communicate with members of the educational team regarding issues related to interpretation and hearing loss to support student learning.
- Students will prepare and deliver effective interpretation that supports instruction, assessment and the learning of each individual student.
