JOUR 2150 - Mass Media Writing Principles
Overview of news journalism and strategic communication writing practices.
Requisites: JOUR 1050 or MDIA 1091 or VICO 1000 and not JOUR major
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to define news.
- Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of theories in the use and presentation of images and information.
- Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of principles and laws of freedom of speech and the press.
- Students will be able to write news stories for print, broadcast, and online media.
- Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of professional ethical principles of pursuing truth, accuracy, fairness, and diversity.
- Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of writing practices related to media relations, publicity, and other strategic communication areas.
