ETM 3635 - Quality Assurance and Technical Documentation
Theory and practice of quality assurance principles. Includes statistical process control, process capability, gauge capability, and quality management and an introduction to ISO documentation.
Requisites: (ISE 3040 or MATH 2500 or QBA 2010) and (ENG 3090J or ENG 3080J or PRCM 3250J or SAM 3250J) and Academic Standing in ETM
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to explain and discuss Six Sigma as a management tool for Quality Assurance, a brief historical overview of the technique, applications, and the importance of Six Sigma in management strategy.
- Students will be able to explain importance of the “voice of the customer” in establishing a Quality management approach and, the value of Six Sigma teams in achieving quality system goals.
- Students will be able to apply measurement indicators of performance.
- Students will be able to use tools and techniques to apply Six Sigma in managing quality in the Design, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control problem solving process.
- Students will be able to identify and apply basic concepts of statistical analysis as they apply to problem solving, and use them in some practical industrial examples
- Students will be able to identify control charts which are an aid in decision making and problem solving and use this approach in some practical industrial examples.
- Students will be able to convey the significance of Six Sigma in relating process capability, upper and lower specification limits, and capability ratio.
- Students will be able to understand, calculate, and explain probability theory and its application in Six Sigma quality systems.
- Students will be able to explain and construct attribute control charts, and their importance in Six Sigma quality system problem solving
- Students will be able to practice aspects of product reliability, product life cycle, reliability measurement as they are determined in Six Sigma quality systems.
- Student will be able to explain key aspects of ISO and its application in quality systems
