TAS 4240 - Technology’s Impact on the Workforce


The impact of technology on culture and industries is rapid and disruptive. A historical overview of the development of various technologies and their influence on western civilization leads to the consideration of the nature of technology and its many societal functions including its impact on organizations. Methods for learning about the development of a given technology are cultivated.

Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to identify and evaluate a solution to a technology induced problem in the workplace.
  • Students will be able to distinguish the historical impact of technological change on communication, organization, and culture.
  • Students will be able to investigate a technological innovation in a specific field and describe its impact.
  • Students will be able to recognize the value and necessity of learning from effort to encourage and achieve innovation.
