PETE 3401 - Techniques and Tactics of Sport


This course provides instruction in a variety of sports through the use of the tactical games instructional model. Through this course, students gain knowledge and skills to employ the tactical games model for net-wall, invasion, striking-fielding, and target sports. This course provides the opportunity to apply the tactical games instructional model through planning, assessment, and reflection.

Requisites: PETE 1260
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to identify the history and rules for invasion, net-wall, striking-fielding, and target sports.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate techniques and tactics for invasion, net-wall, striking-fielding, and target sports.
  • Students will be able to assess the critical elements for a variety of sport skills.
  • Students will be able to design a sequence of progressive and developmentally appropriate activities to meet the needs of all skill levels and abilities.
  • Students will be able to assess upon their ability to effectively implement the tactical games model.
