MUS 3631 - Instrumental Methods and Materials


Literature and rehearsal techniques for secondary school bands and orchestras, including administration of the high school instrumental music program. Application of principles of typical child development through field experiences in the secondary music classroom.

Requisites: (Music Education and Music Therapy students) and (Soph, Jr, or Sr) and WARNING: no credit for this course if taken after both MUS 2631 and 2632
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

  • Students will be able to develop tools to help students maximize learning in the secondary music classroom.
  • Students will be able to identify instructional strategies that promote student learning through field experiences in the secondary music classroom.
