MUS 4591 - Advanced Choral Conducting
Students develop advanced conducting skills, including philosophy and leadership, score study and analysis, interpretation and rehearsal skills, and movement and conducting technique. Application includes opportunities for chamber and large ensemble conducting.
Requisites: MUS 4561 and permission required
Credit Hours: 2
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be to able to explain their conducting philosophy.
- Students will be able to demonstrate clarity of manual conducting technique and musical intent.
- Students will be able to analyze complex musical scores.
- Students will be able to develop mature interpretation of music based on in-depth score study.
- Students will be able to communicate efficient and effective rehearsal skills through gestural and verbal means.
