ENGT 2250 - Programmable Logic Controllers II and Motor Controls
Provides basic principles of single-phase motors, three-phase motors, and variable frequency AC drives. Provides real-world control methods of interfacing basic PLC programming to industrial manufacturing applications consisting of timer instructions, counter instructions and event sequencing.
Requisites: ENGT 2210
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.0 lecture, 4.0 laboratory

- Students will be able to describe the characteristics of capacitor start motors.
- Students will be able to describe the characteristics of three-phase AC induction motors.
- Students will be able to describe the characteristics of variable frequency AC drives.
- Students will be able to design PLC programs using timer instructions.
- Students will be able to design PLC programs using counter instructions.
- Students will be able to design continuous cycle reciprocating PLC program.
