SASM 4020 - Advanced Sport Facility Management


This course is designed to apply best principles of facility management to various recreational and sports facilities. Emphasis is placed upon operational efficiency, quality of service and fiscal responsibility. The course may require additional student attendance at facility tours outside of the normal class period.

Requisites: SASM 3760
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to evaluate risk and emergency management principles.
  • Students will be able to evaluate and propose sustainable facility management practices.
  • Students will be able to articulate the use and impact of technology in facility management.
  • Students will be able to calculate public and private funding strategies for new sport facilities.
  • Students will be able to conduct a feasibility study for a new sport, recreation and/or entertainment facility.
  • Students will be able to design a facility plan for a new sports, recreation or entertainment facility.
