NRSE 2132 - The Nurse’s Role in Health Promotion Across the Lifespan


Examines the nurse’s role in health promotion and reducing risk behaviors for diverse individuals and families across the lifespan. Focuses on the role of nutrition, physical activity, and stress management on health outcomes. Principles of client education are introduced. The effects of nutrition, physical activity, and stress management on health outcomes are examined.

  • Students will be able to discuss the role of basic nutrients and their role in growth, development, and health.
  • Students will be able to describe the essential concepts of energy balance and body composition.
  • Students will be able to identify and interpret food labels for nutritional information.
  • Students will be able to identify appropriate dietary guidelines across the lifespan.
  • Students will be able to describe how culture, religion, and ethnicity influence the health of individuals and families across the lifespan.
  • Students will be able to explain how health outcomes are impacted by nutrition, physical activity, and stress management.
