NRSE 2112 - Pathophysiology for Nursing Practice


Students are reintroduced to the basic pathophysiology of selected conditions that alter the health of clients across the lifespan. Focuses on clinical reasoning and identification of presenting signs, symptoms, and clinical manifestations of selected disease processes.

Requisites: NRSE 1102
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to identify pathological processes as they occur within human cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems.
  • Students will be able to describe the basic pathophysiology of selected disease processes that alter the health of clients across the lifespan.
  • Students will be able to explain signs, symptoms, and clinical manifestations of selected disease processes.
  • Students will be able to discuss factors that affect specific physiological conditions along the health and illness continuum, including social determinants of health.
  • Students will be able to discuss the role of genetics in the development of specific disease processes.
  • Students will be able to discuss alterations in multiple body systems related to disease processes.
