FILM 3550 - Experimental Film
In this course, students produce films using non-traditional filmmaking techniques. Students will also screen various contemporary and historical experimental films to help them understand the different non-traditional techniques available to them and to place themselves in the history of experimental cinema.
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to describe the techniques of non-traditional filmmaking, and apply these techniques to their film practice.
- Students will be able to identify and discuss major filmmakers, film styles, and film movements in the history of experimental films.
- Students will be able to analyze experimental films in relation to their techniques, aesthetics, the formal and theoretical questions they raise.
