COMS 2170 - Advanced Forensics
Students prepare for competition in one or more individual events and/or debate as part of the Ohio University Forensics Team. Attendance at tournaments is required.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to practice novel styles of speaking and argumentation.
- Students will be able to apply academic knowledge about professional speaking to forensic speech and debate tournament events.
- Students will be able to evaluate topics, argumentation strategies, and approaches to delivery in forensic speech and debate and justify their choices.
- Students will be able adapt their written and oral communication based on feedback from instructor.
- Students will be able to identify and make connections between their forensic speech and debate activities and communication messages in workplace settings.
- Students will be able to adapt and apply speaking and analysis skills, abilities, and methodologies gained in forensic speech and debate activities to interactions outside of the classroom.
- Students will be able to engage in a reflective process to identify and articulate knowledge, values, and attitudes developed through the practice of forensic speech and debate.
- Students will be able to demonstrate growth as a communicator and build on prior experience to respond to new and challenging contexts.
