ENG 3650 - Introduction to Literary Editing and Publishing
An introduction to the issues and practices of literary magazine editing and publishing, with an examination of both print journals and web-based magazines.
Requisites: ENG 3610 or 3620 or 3630

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to identify the editorial prerogatives of a wide range of print and web-based magazines.
- Students will be able to adapt and apply literary reading and editing skills to select and edit publishable literary poetry and prose for their own literary journal.
- Students will be able to successfully solicit manuscripts and follow professional protocols in working with authors to improve and revise creative works for publication.
- Students will be able to effectively organize, lay out, and produce a literary magazine in print-ready and online formats.
- Students will be able to integrate supervisor feedback into their editing practice.
- Students will be able to constructively reflect on and improve their own writing, including professional communication, in light of their editing practice.
