HIST 3682 - Nazi Germany
This course covers the following topics: Nazi ideology and the Nazi worldview; the rise of Hitler to power and the Nazi takeover; the totalitarianization of Germany; Nazi foreign policy; World War II: genocidal ideology and Hitler’s war on Jews; Hitler’s downfall; and the meaning of fascism. The course also explores ethical issues related to fascist ideology and Nazi exercise and abuses of power.

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to recognize one’s own ethical core beliefs and how they shape ethical conduct and thinking, using topics related to the Nazi rise to and exercise of power as a starting point and example.
- Students will be able to understand ethical perspectives, theories, and/or concepts with regard to Nazi ideology, anti-Semitism, racism, and genocidal exercise of power.
- Students will be able to recognize, evaluate, and connect ethical issues when reading sources related to and writing about issues connected to the Nazi regime.
- Students will be able to apply ethical perspectives, theories, or concepts to situations related to the history of Nazi rule over Germany and Nazi conquest of Europe in World War II.
- Students will be able to evaluate alternative ethical perspectives within a decision-making situation, specifically by analyzing the specific values and ideas rooted in Nazi ideology.
