REC 1920 - Adventure Experience Practicum
The course uses adventure learning as a means to improve interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and self-efficacy. The experience consists of a multi-day wilderness expedition in which students develop wilderness living and travel skills specific to the particular program area in which the practicum is conducted as well as the form of wilderness travel used during the practicum (e.g., backpacking, bike packing, canoeing, and climbing).

Learning Outcomes:
- Students will be able to identify personal attributes as they relate to academic and career goals.
- Students will be able to practice good expedition behavior in their interactions with others within the context of an adventure experience.
- Students will be able to practice wilderness living skills.
- Students will be able to practice select modes of wilderness travel.
- Students will be able to use the principles and practices of Leave No Trace in minimizing environmental impacts resulting from recreational and educational use of natural environments.
- Students will be able to apply basic principles of safety and risk management to minimize accident potential while participating in adventure experiences.
