COMM 3810 - Communication Field Studies Away


Students travel with Ohio University faculty to the target location to explore specific communication issues, topics, and theories.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to describe communicative and cultural nuances of the target geographic location.
  • Students will be able to identify the cultural nuances in the target geographic location.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate communication behaviors that are culturally appropriate in the target geographic location.
  • Students will be able to analyze messages, communication experiences, and communicative contexts in the target geographic location using relevant communication theories.
  • Students will be able to identify and critique the contemporary and historical significance of major landmarks in the target geographic location after having visited them.
  • Students will be able to describe their developing sense of self as a learner.
