Class of 2015 Patient-Centered Continuum Curriculum


The patient-centered continuum curriculum is a dynamic curriculum expressly designed to address the rapidly-changing health care environment. Because of this, the college reserves the right to change courses in order to provide students with the tools they will need to provide current, up-to-date medical care.

Students matriculating into the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011 will begin their studies in the quarter-based system.  However, it is expected that the semester system will be implemented at the beginning of the 2012 academic year.  Matriculants in the 2011-2012 academic year should see the semester-based listings for information regarding years two, three and four of their medical studies.  Information pertaining to years two, three and four of the quarter-based system are included for the convenience of existing students

Year One: Quarter-Based Curriculum


The following descriptions of OU-HCOM courses are accurate as of the date of publication.The following courses are open to first-year osteopathic medical students in the quarter-based PCC learning track only, with the exception of OCOM 639, which is required for students in both quarter-based curricular tracks.

Year Two: Semester-Based Curriculum


Years Three and Four: Semester-Based Curriculum


Courses 7200 - 8944 are open to all third- and fourth-year osteopathic medical students in the semester-based curriculum. Courses 8920 and 8070 are only open to fourth-year osteopathic medical students in the semester-based curriculum.
