Program Overview
The mission of the AFROTC program is to produce high quality officers to lead tomorrows US Air Force and to produce better citizens through educating students about the US military. Students who are AFROTC members (cadets) must complete an extensive concentration of Aerospace Studies (over 24 credit hours) to earn a commission as an officer in the US Armed Forces. The minor will formally recognize the rigor put forth by cadets completing the ROTC program.
The Aerospace minor promotes leadership and sound management practices that can be used by any student in any career path. Non-ROTC students pursuing this minor will be provided an understanding of how the US military functions. The Aerospace Studies (AST) department provides the opportunity for students to succeed at these objectives through participation in existing, detailed courses of instruction throughout a typical four year college experience. AST courses focus on the development and application of professional military knowledge, skills, and leadership.
